The commission under the leadership of Pastor E.A. Adeboye every January goes into intense spiritual meditation, prayer and fasting to prepare for the year ahead.
According to 2 Kings 2:9-12,
9 When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”
“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.
10 “You have asked a difficult thing,” Elijah said, “yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours—otherwise, it will not.”
11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
12 Elisha saw this and cried out, “My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!” And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his garment and tore it in two.
We are made to understand that there is no glory without a price: Elisha paid the price to receive his own double portion. The table is now set for every one of us to receive our own portions as much as we desire – beginning with the 50 days fasting announced by our General Overseer, Daddy E. A Adeboye.
Each year comes with its own uniqueness. With the prophetic declarations for Year 2023, and because of the anointing for double portion that has been released for greater exploits, the year has promised to be a season of Wonderful encounters. To fully engage with the prophecies gone ahead of us, we admonish you to get set to address the year in a fast.”
In the RCCG Family, this spiritual task is categorized as follows;
50 Days Annual Fasting and Prayer, also known as the Normal Fast. – During this fasting, you are expected to fast normally and break your fast by 6 pm.
21 Days Annual Fasting and Prayer, also known as the Dry Fast – All individuals engaging in this are to be on a marathon fast.
You can choose to break your fast each day, therefore fasting for 50 days, or you can embark on a 21-day dry fast (marathon fast).
RCCG Annual Fasting & Prayer Dates:
The Annual Fasting and prayer exercise is scheduled to hold as follows;
50 Days of Fasting and Prayer: from Wednesday 11th January to Wednesday 1st March 2023.
21 Days of Fasting and Prayer: from Wednesday 11th January to Tuesday 31st January 2023.
